We decide to take a day off for good behavior and walk North through Quartzsite up to the City Limit entrance sign (but eventually give up), yet we enjoyed our promenading and come across notable sites… and one that beyond hilarious. Goes to show RV Life is full of twists and turns.
We’ve arrived at the Quartzsite 2017 RV Show/Rally the day before the grand opening of the “Big Tent” yet hundreds (thousands?) of exhibitors have already opened their nearby flea market booths. The weather is cloudy at best, with a winter rainstorm in the evening but what’s our worry? Besides that, no dust tomorrow 🙂
Nearing the Quartzsite 2017 RV Rally, we stopped on the Colorado River at Buckskin Mountain State Park with awesome views and a very convenient stop to fill-up with water and dump your tanks before descending into nearby Quartzsite.
Finally, it’s time to descend on the Quartzsite RV rally and meet mega-friends! We left the Bay Area rain on day 1 with drizzle on our tail as we pulled in to Bakersfield with 3 other rigs in our caravan. Better weather on day 2 going over Tehachapi Pass, across the Mohave Desert and Colorado River, into Lake Havasu’s “London Bridge,” spending the night at Buckskin Mountain State Park in sunny Arizona. With only 60 miles to go, tomorrow we’ll get up early for some awesome sunrise pictures before descending into Quartzsite – can’t wait!
YES – our DJI Mavic drone has *finally* arrived, so let’s open up the boxes and take our first flight. BUT WAIT, be sure to see our next video that details 50 DETAILED steps to get everything ready to go before making the maiden flight! Follow these easy “how to” steps for quick and easy setup. Also, you really wouldn’t want to incur a $27,500 civil fine and a $250,000 criminal fine plus going to prison for three years for failing to register your unmanned aircraft with the FAA! https://www.faa.gov/uas/faqs/
Note: The 50 Detailed list is still, “in progress”. Stay Tuned.
Next up: cTv RV Life, Quartzsite or bust, SF to Bakersfield & Buckskin Mountain AZ

Heading North to the Redding area, we dropped by Shasta Dam – one of California’s two gargantuan reservoirs that provide precious water to the State and produces 350+ Megawatts of electrical power. Visitors are treated to glorious views, yet be aware the guided dam tour has considerable security restrictions that limit items you are allowed to carry.
Oops, hit snow at Manzanita Lake (5890 feet) in Mt Lassen National Park. So while we couldn’t stay overnight (closed) our Siberian Husky Kaliki had a blast doing what Arctic Dogs are born to do. So after playtime we headed down to Redding on shore of the Sacramento River and did our RV Life overnighter… actually two nights so we could see Shasta Dam and the Sundial Bridge.
20,000+ Monarch Butterflies – WOW!!! Here at Pismo Beach in November there’s even more butterflies than tourists 🙂 They love the nice weather snuggled near oceanside Eucalyptus, Cypress and Redwood groves – don’t we all… California Travel Videos continues to learn the ropes.
On our central California Thanksgiving sojourn we continued from Santa Barbara to Pismo Beach to check out their annual 10K marathon “Turkey Trot” along the beach and surf, along with a brief photo shoot at Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo. With the better part of 1,000 runners we didn’t get out our drone yet one fly boy dared to fly above the masses.
Nothing quite like Twin Peaks views overlooking San Francisco on a clear winter day (during a side trip getaway between California Travel Videos trips in our Recreational Vehicle). And with low winds we caught someone flying a Phantom drone… kinda naughty to fly above peaks within 5 miles of San Francisco International airport!
