Heading back to Northern California on our RV Life travel video/photo tour, we stopped by Venice Beach on a gorgeous day to checkout the street artists, skateboarders and local shops.
Camp Pendleton Marine Corp Base – here we come! Well, while we’re not quite ready for active military duty, we had a fantastic time playing at the ocean beachfront property while watching the Countries finest soldiers perform their nearby amphibious maneuvers. Granted “official leave” (LOL) we also went to nearby Oceanside to dine, watch surfers and check out the local shops.
California Travel Videos gives Grace two thumbs way up on our getaway to Joshua Tree National Park! Everywhere you look are beautiful views and photograph opportunities. It’s also offers excellent challenges for the aspiring mountain climber and Kaliki gives a few of the mondogranite boulders a try (staying within the 100 foot required range of the roadway).
cTv heads up the Palm Springs aerial tram to play in the snow, with lots of interesting stories along the way – enjoying the RV good life! Rising 8500 feet above the desert floor, the Palm Springs Tramway offers access to hiking, skiing and camping trips in this famous San Jacinto state park wilderness.
cTv RV Life, before leaving Quartzsite we stop to appreciate founder “Hi Jolly” then it’s off to Indio California for the evening (after missing the turnoff to Joshua Tree National Park). Actually, Indio has an interesting history, too – Indians discovered natural wells (originally named Indian Wells), that were vital to the Southern Pacific railroad obtaining water in the middle of the desert… as always, much to the chagrin of the American Indians.
Excitement today – starting off with a drone flight over La Posa, then off to visit with Escapees Xscapers Quartzsite Convergence to climb the “big hill” and finish the day with a bonfire to cheer on the Scavenger Hunt award winners – awesome group and wish we didn’t have to leave our new friends so soon…
We decide to take a day off for good behavior and walk North through Quartzsite up to the City Limit entrance sign (but eventually give up), yet we enjoyed our promenading and come across notable sites… and one that beyond hilarious. Goes to show RV Life is full of twists and turns.
We’ve arrived at the Quartzsite 2017 RV Show/Rally the day before the grand opening of the “Big Tent” yet hundreds (thousands?) of exhibitors have already opened their nearby flea market booths. The weather is cloudy at best, with a winter rainstorm in the evening but what’s our worry? Besides that, no dust tomorrow
Nearing the Quartzsite 2017 RV Rally, we stopped on the Colorado River at Buckskin Mountain State Park with awesome views and a very convenient stop to fill-up with water and dump your tanks before descending into nearby Quartzsite.
Finally, it’s time to descend on the Quartzsite RV rally and meet mega-friends! We left the Bay Area rain on day 1 with drizzle on our tail as we pulled in to Bakersfield with 3 other rigs in our caravan. Better weather on day 2 going over Tehachapi Pass, across the Mohave Desert and Colorado River, into Lake Havasu’s “London Bridge,” spending the night at Buckskin Mountain State Park in sunny Arizona. With only 60 miles to go, tomorrow we’ll get up early for some awesome sunrise pictures before descending into Quartzsite – can’t wait!
