Grace Bites the Dust in the Sierra Forest and Drone Time

At long last, we head for snow country in the Sierras. Wanting to avoid frozen pipes or tanks, we spent the first night at Colfax, Long Ravine Campground. We enjoyed the beautiful lake view, drone video footage and…Grace demonstrated The fine art of face plants (fortunate it was in sawdust). And of course life happens when we’re making plans – dealing with a new rattle to repair in our Class C motor home.

cTv RV Life, San Diego Zoo, Pandas, Koalas, “Zooman” guide Chris Clobber

cTv hits great January weather at the fantastic San Diego Zoo – complete with guided bus tour by “Zooman” Chris Clobber.  We saw Pandas, Koalas, Giraffes, wrestling Grizzly Bears, lions, swimming hippos and many more animals in the wild.  Listen to Chris share his humor and lifetime from infancy living and working at the San Diego Zoo!

cTv RV Life, Joshua Tree National Park, Glorious Views + Photographs

California Travel Videos gives Grace two thumbs way up on our getaway to Joshua Tree National Park!  Everywhere you look are beautiful views and photograph opportunities.  It’s also offers excellent challenges for the aspiring mountain climber and Kaliki gives a few of the mondogranite boulders a try (staying within the 100 foot required range of the roadway).

cTv RV Life, Quartzsite, Drone, Escapees-Xscapers Convergence, Hill Climb

Excitement today – starting off with a drone flight over La Posa, then off to visit with Escapees Xscapers Quartzsite Convergence to climb the “big hill” and finish the day with a bonfire to cheer on the Scavenger Hunt award winners – awesome group and wish we didn’t have to leave our new friends so soon…

ctv RV Life, Quartzsite Day 0, 2017 – Windy, Wet and Wild

We’ve arrived at the Quartzsite 2017 RV Show/Rally the day before the grand opening of the “Big Tent” yet hundreds (thousands?) of exhibitors have already opened their nearby flea market booths.  The weather is cloudy at best, with a winter rainstorm in the evening but what’s our worry?  Besides that, no dust tomorrow 🙂

cTv RV Life, Shasta Dam – Bringing Power to the People (Water too!)

Heading North to the Redding area, we dropped by Shasta Dam – one of California’s two gargantuan reservoirs that provide precious water to the State and produces 350+ Megawatts of electrical power.  Visitors are treated to glorious views, yet be aware the guided dam tour has considerable security restrictions that limit items you are allowed to carry.

cTv RVLife SNOW TIME, Manzanita Lake at Lassen National Park

Oops, hit snow at Manzanita Lake (5890 feet) in Mt Lassen National Park.  So while we couldn’t stay overnight (closed) our Siberian Husky Kaliki had a blast doing what Arctic Dogs are born to do.  So after playtime we headed down to Redding on shore of the Sacramento River and did our RV Life overnighter… actually two nights so we could see Shasta Dam and the Sundial Bridge.

cTv RV Life, Siri FAIL gets us LOST searching for Gold Hills in boondocks

Oh oh, we made the fatal mistake “trusting” Siri’s map directions KNEW the “best route” (FAIL) But after more than a mile of nasty off-road near disaster (rickety bridge) and eventually coming to a narrow dead-end, we knew we’d been had 🙁 This is a birthday trip Father and son will remember for many years to come, “remember that time when…………..”
