Let’s explore how to simplify our travel “extras” and focus on the necessities for a long trip. In this episode we will eliminate “fun stuff” for the weekend warrior camper to accommodate important gear, tools and even entertainment items useful when we won’t have access to our home belongings.
We dropped by the b8ta (sic Beta) test drive showroom to take the Rad City bikes out for a spin. Great fun yet with one serious warning!!! You *WILL* be hooked and ready to buy after your test drive – what fun 🙂
Parades are always touching, a Veterans parade is always moving but today pulled at strings and tugged at my heart in ways I’ve never before experienced with such depth. I wasn’t sure there was going to still be a parade with our air quality so bad here in Northern California from the fires. Then I wasn’t sure if my old smokers lungs would be able to handle it, if there was. The parade went on and as I walked through those in the parade I met Jack, a WW2 Veteran, (one of the few left.) I went up, shook his hand and thanked him for his service. He simply stated, “I was just doing my job”. I walked away with those words playing over and over in my head and giving them a lot of thought. Next I came upon a couple of Native American floats so beautifully decorated. Later as I watched them riding down Petaluma Bl I could hear the beat of their drums as they sang their Native songs, they too Veterans. Veterans who in WW2 broke the German codes and helped lead us to victory. There were people of all color, from all different backgrounds and many cultures coming together to celebrate all Veterans, all Americans. I never want to forget this day.
The spring following the devastating Santa Rosa fires we visit a local preserve. Starting off with overhead drone views, If you like all things wildflowers than you will love our flower identification hike with expert George as he shows us the characteristics of dozens of wildflowers at the Pepperwood Preserve on Mark West Springs Road (10 miles East of Santa Rosa). It’s time to review some Class C RVs! Huh, we thought our Fleetwood Icon (and Pulse) were “manufacturer discontinued” when Fleetwood went bust over 8 years ago? With the recession in 2009, sadly the southern California Fleetwood RV/Trailer company filed for bankruptcy. Fortunately Cavco Industries purchased their assets and begin manufacturing Class A motorhomes in “RV Country” at Decatur, Indiana with Heartland Recreational Vehicles now owning the Fleetwood trademark. But it turns out the new company is back in the game and Class C RVs remain popular with the RV crowd. So let’s check ’em out…
cTv continues with our RV show at the Sacramento CalExpo event. We enjoyed checking out all the brand new RVs, doing more walkthrought’s of rigs of various size RVs – Lance camper, Arctic Fox 5th Wheel, and two Winnebago Minnie Winnie Class C units.
Checking out new RVs is always fun. We begin the Sacramento 2018 CalExpo Spring RV Show looking at nuCamp T@b Teardrops and continue on to the Lance Trailers from the smallest to the midsize units – great for a weekend, shorter trips and the minimalists on a budget.
