Awesome Scenery eBike Ride – Presque Isle, Erie Pennsylvania

Video 21 of our Series, Around the USA in 90 Days!

Presque Isle is true to its name, a very long, skinny peninsula that hooks around Erie Pennsylvania like Cape Cod does for Plymouth Massachusetts. Better yet, for hikers and bike riders Presque Isle has a full forest tree cover to provide shelter with the typical winds of the Great Lake Erie. Along the path are sites of nearby Erie – no wonder with Presque’s protection the seaport was chosen by settlers hundreds of years ago. Of course, with such valuable real estate, it led to wars between the Native Americans, British and American Settlers.

The Johnny Appleseed Story – Truth or Fiction?

Video 17 of our Series, Around the USA in 90 Days!

This time we are in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the final stomping ground of John Chapman, AKA Johnny Appleseed. And while General Wayne is credited with the City name after conquering the native american Miami Indians tribe ( then known by the name Kekionga), the kind-hearted Johnny Appleseed enjoyed the company of everyone, including the Indians, all of God’s creatures and his fellow white man whom he shared both sermons as well as apple seeds to grow nourishing fruit trees.

Indiana Dunes State Park, Above Lake Michigan and Butterflies

Video 16 of our Series, Around the USA in 90 Days!
After seeing family in Milwaukee and enduring the midday Chicago traffic, we arrived at the Indiana Dunes State Park and National Shores at Lake Michigan. If you’re in the area between the Spring and Fall, be sure to drop by even if it’s only a day trip.

OUCH – Face plant in Winona, Minnesota, Across Mississippi to Wisconsin Dells

Video 15 of our Series, Around the USA in 90 Days!

Once in a while it’s okay to RV overnight in a Walmart (Winona, Minnesota) and the nearby lake was beautiful. Bad news – don’t run wide open with your dog on wet grass chasing a squirrel into a tree! Meanwhile, after crossing the Mississippi we enjoyed spending some time in the Wisconsin Dells before heading to Indiana.

From South Dakota Badlands to USA Minuteman Nuclear Missile Museum

Video 14 of our Series, Around the USA in 90 Days!

As we head through South Dakota to the Badlands National Park to the Minuteman Nuclear Missile National Museum, we also dropped by the Walls Drug complex after seeing all the roadside ad signs. The Badlands are, well… not a place you’d expect to see much life including vegetation but the sandstone hills and cliffs are quite remarkable – just the kind of terrain you might expect President Teddy Roosevelt to trot through on his horse. Nearby we saw a sign for the Minuteman Missile National Museum so we thought “why not?” (or at least Michael was game). That said, not many enjoy the thought of our Country being involved in a thermonuclear war so if this sort of thing doesn’t make you wonder about our National deterrent to avoid future International Wars, we certainly understand why you might want to pass seeing our Minuteman National Museum.
