Michael – What – travel 400+ miles to hunt flowers growing in the wild at Arvin and Lebec? Yeah, sometimes it’s wise for a husband to pick up a few “atta boys” and get a chance to fly his drone! Turned out to be an awesome 3 day RV Life trip with spectacular wildflowers so we extended an extra day, going South ANOTHER 100+ miles! Stay tuned – we have two more stops in future shows…
With tons of snow, we head for Truckee for snow play and Donner Lake with our drone at 7:32 . Of course our Siberian Husky Kaliki (from Alaska) has a fantastic time feeling he’s “back home” again! Let us know what you think in the comments below, should we move to the snow?
At long last, we head for snow country in the Sierras. Wanting to avoid frozen pipes or tanks, we spent the first night at Colfax, Long Ravine Campground. We enjoyed the beautiful lake view, drone video footage and…Grace demonstrated The fine art of face plants (fortunate it was in sawdust). And of course life happens when we’re making plans – dealing with a new rattle to repair in our Class C motor home.
Heading home after our 18 day trip, we leave Bakersfield to swing by… Visalia (?) of all places. Could we be making a sidetrip to the Sequoia National Redwood Forest? (nope) So it turns out Grace has a “special” engagement party planned with…(stay tuned). Also, while we enjoyed our overnight stays at a handful of Elks Lodges during our trip, at 5:45 we point out a potential downside as we witnessed at Bakersfield (yet great folks inside the Club!)
California Travel Videos gives Grace two thumbs way up on our getaway to Joshua Tree National Park! Everywhere you look are beautiful views and photograph opportunities. It’s also offers excellent challenges for the aspiring mountain climber and Kaliki gives a few of the mondogranite boulders a try (staying within the 100 foot required range of the roadway).
Excitement today – starting off with a drone flight over La Posa, then off to visit with Escapees Xscapers Quartzsite Convergence to climb the “big hill” and finish the day with a bonfire to cheer on the Scavenger Hunt award winners – awesome group and wish we didn’t have to leave our new friends so soon…
Oops, hit snow at Manzanita Lake (5890 feet) in Mt Lassen National Park. So while we couldn’t stay overnight (closed) our Siberian Husky Kaliki had a blast doing what Arctic Dogs are born to do. So after playtime we headed down to Redding on shore of the Sacramento River and did our RV Life overnighter… actually two nights so we could see Shasta Dam and the Sundial Bridge.
Oh oh, we made the fatal mistake “trusting” Siri’s map directions KNEW the “best route” (FAIL) But after more than a mile of nasty off-road near disaster (rickety bridge) and eventually coming to a narrow dead-end, we knew we’d been had 🙁 This is a birthday trip Father and son will remember for many years to come, “remember that time when…………..”
Completing our first year anniversary trip, Grace, Michael and our Siberian Husky Kaliki spend an afternoon at Gibson Beach and Pelican Point at Point Lobos State Beach (sadly, dogs are not allowed on trails and there is no overnight RV accommodations). We then scooted up North for an hour passing Monterey to New Brighton State Beach Campground again blessed with more awesome views of the Pacific Ocean. But Kaliki did get to play in the Pacific Ocean at Carmel Beach just north of Point Lobos!
We look forward to hearing from you as we continue our California Travel Videos so don’t delay, SUBSCRIBE TODAY!!!
