From BIG Bears to young cubs, Bear World does not disappoint! So if you’re heading East to Yellowstone National Park , we highly recommend checking out this treasure where wildlife is preserved and allowed to run free in a safe, friendly environment. And you are going to LOVE the playful bear cubs wrestling, running and drinking milk from a bottle held by park visitors.
Idaho Falls may not have the stunning 200+ waterfalls we found at Shoshone Falls, but they makes up for it with a very long waterfall where you can get up very close (and personal). Also, the Idaho Falls and Snake River are so close you can easily touch it. And if that isn’t enough, don’t miss out on the beautiful greenbelt where you can walk or bike adjacent to the river and falls for a 5+ mile loop! Ironically we learned that the original project was spearheaded by their local Rotary Club!
While traveling from Elko, Nevada to Twin Fall, Idaho a reckless Walmart semi-truck driver cut us off at 60 miles per hour! Fortunately, we avoided an accident and made it to see the phenomenal Shoshone Falls and were pleasantly surprised to find a beautiful double-rainbow below the falls – WOW!!! Wow, this has to be our favorite campground so far on our “90 Day Around America.” As you’d expect in a National Forest, the 40 site campground only has the basics – running water and restrooms (no showers). But the hiking trails and views are definitely breathtaking and well worth the 20 mile drive from Elko, Nevada.
While passing through Reno, Nevada, nearby Scheels Sporting Goods store has fantastic natural life animal displays – some reaching up like a real mountain with hundreds of taxidermy wildlife portrayed in their habitat. So needless to say, if you are looking to buy anything outdoor and sporting goods related, look for it at Scheels – or at least enjoy a wonderful site-seeing experience…but don’t be surprised if you wind up spending more here than the nearby Casinos!
As we head out of the Reno/Sparks area of Nevada, we soon come across Mustang … but we came in hopes to see wild horses (not the legendary Mustang Ranch). Of course, life happens while you’re making other plans and our trip is interrupted by a RV mishap when we pull off the road. But as the saying goes, bad decisions often make good stories… cTvFun,com
WOW, while most first think of Lake Tahoe being associated with the Sierra Mountains, we were pleasantly surprised to discover the beauties of nearby Donner Lake – right by the Interstate 80 Freeway! Come along with us as we ride our eBikes around Donner Lake (drone video, too) and ride through nearby Truckee.
If you have a heavy duty alternator in your RV, you may wish to get 2,000 watts of “free power” when you’re driving down the road (or idling). First off, layout the design with all your accessories. I decided to include both a DC circuit breaker and a battery cut off (on/off) switch between the battery and the Aims Inverter. In this lesson, we will cut 200 amp copper cable, crimp and solder cables, install the AIMS inverter, route cabling, etc.
Parades are always touching, a Veterans parade is always moving but today pulled at strings and tugged at my heart in ways I’ve never before experienced with such depth. I wasn’t sure there was going to still be a parade with our air quality so bad here in Northern California from the fires. Then I wasn’t sure if my old smokers lungs would be able to handle it, if there was. The parade went on and as I walked through those in the parade I met Jack, a WW2 Veteran, (one of the few left.) I went up, shook his hand and thanked him for his service. He simply stated, “I was just doing my job”. I walked away with those words playing over and over in my head and giving them a lot of thought. Next I came upon a couple of Native American floats so beautifully decorated. Later as I watched them riding down Petaluma Bl I could hear the beat of their drums as they sang their Native songs, they too Veterans. Veterans who in WW2 broke the German codes and helped lead us to victory. There were people of all color, from all different backgrounds and many cultures coming together to celebrate all Veterans, all Americans. I never want to forget this day.
(see #2 below for detailed setup). First the Phantom 1. Not long after, the Phantom 2 and after some time I also went with the Mavic Pro. But hearing the awesome features of the Mavic Air, I simply couldn’t resist not owning it as well. In this part, I’ll explain my favorite features including the ability to automatically shoot a panoramic photo series!
